Lex Luger’s Resilience And Positive Spirit Praised By Booker T

On a recent episode of his Hall of Fame podcast, WWE Hall of Famer Booker T gave an enthusiastic endorsement for Lex Luger’s long-awaited induction into the WWE Hall of Fame. A two-time Hall of Famer himself, Booker made it clear he believes Luger’s spot is well-deserved.

“It’s a no-brainer for me. I’m glad. I’m really happy to see him actually get the nod because he did a hell of a lot for the business.”

Booker acknowledged that Hall of Fame decisions can sometimes be influenced by personal politics or grudges within the wrestling world:

“You know, a lot of times people hold grudges in this business a lot. That may be the reason why a lot of guys get in and don’t get in, but I tell you what. As far as deserving, Lex Luger is definitely deserving.”

Luger, widely known as “The Total Package,” was a major star in both WCW and WWE throughout the 1980s and 1990s. He was a two-time WCW World Heavyweight Champion and played a pivotal role during the Monday Night Wars, including his shocking appearance on the first-ever episode of WCW Monday Nitro—just one day after wrestling for WWE (then WWF), with no prior warning.

Despite never capturing a WWE championship, Booker emphasized Luger’s overall impact on the industry rather than individual accolades. More importantly, he praised Luger’s strength of character in the face of tremendous adversity. After suffering a spinal stroke in 2007 that initially left him paralyzed, Luger has remained positive and resilient, now using a wheelchair but continuing to engage with fans and the wrestling community.

“He’s been such a stand-up dude, even going through what he’s been going through. I give him so much freaking credit because he could be bitter. He could be mad at the world, and every time I’ve seen Lex Luger, he’s always had nothing but a smile on his face.”

Booker also shared a personal story that captured Luger’s enduring spirit:

“I was with him just last year at a convention, and he was right next to me. He smiled all freaking day. Big ups to Lex Luger going into the Hall of Fame.”

For Booker T, Luger’s legacy is not just about championships or controversies—it’s about perseverance, impact, and love for the business.
